One of the paintings I completed for the Heroes and Villains show at RPS Collective in Oakland running from April 3rd to April 25th.
The words in the banner are old style Vietnamese "nom" character writing. No one uses this kind of writing anymore, but many classic Vietnamese literature was written with "nom" characters or Chinese characters. Anyway, the characters say "Seven Strange Nights" or something to that effect.
This could be a cover for a potential story I suppose! It is so hard to do paintings. I had to go through may three different pencil and ink drafts before I was ready to paint. And even then there are still some mistakes. -_-;
My favorite part to paint was the bleeding hand. I bought a new tube of Winsor Red for this illustration. Now I really like to use this red paint in almost everything. I think I'm on a kind of kick on red at the moment. XD;
AHH this is so cool. I love the composition of this piece. It's so delightfully creepy ahaha XD
I like the bleeding hand, too. Mostly because everything else in the picture just kind of insinuates a scary situation. The cut off arm and bleeding hand actually propels that thought! It's great, really :]
haha i like this! it has something...old style to it and haha yeah the bleeding hand and haha, my Vietnamese friend was impressed with the 'nom' haha anyway, nice stuff and colours and guh~ <3
I love this piece! Not that I don't say this about all your work. It really contrasts your other pieces in the sense that this one uses more dark and subdued tones as opposed to your other work. I don't even know what else to say, I reallly love this one. I didn't think I could love your work more <3
Red kink is awesome. <3 I really love the sharp contrast in this, and the lively assortment of your figures. And of course the staring cats are so awesome.

I like how you're able to use so much black without it all bleeding into each other. Love that cat mask, too.
